Debt Relief Orders (DRO)

If you cannot afford to pay back your debts

You can apply for a Debt Relief Order (DRO) if you cannot afford to pay back your debts. A DRO has strict criteria and is only available in certain circumstances.

A Debt Relief Order (DRO) is a formal insolvency process that can help you deal with your debts if you owe less than £50,000, don’t own your home and have little spare income (less than £75).

DROs are an alternative debt solution to bankruptcy and usually last one year (12 months). Once you are in a DRO creditors are unable to recover their money without permission from the courts. Once discharged from your DRO, all the debts listed in your DRO will be cleared.

You don’t have to face debt alone.

We’re here to help you take back control.

How do I apply for a DRO?

Only an approved debt charity or adviser (called an “Approved Intermediary”) can apply for a DRO.

 Dexter Bell will:

  • Assess if you qualify
  • Explain what it means for you
  • Signpost you to a debt charity or specialist to apply on your behalf
